“I hit trees, stumps and rocks”

Our category of gloves for the toughest downhill riding is called Alpine Pro. Today, it’s a given that young skiers and snowboarders travel around the world in search of big mountains and bottomless powder, and that they spend almost the entire winter season filming and competing.

This was not the case when Seth Morrison decided to dedicate himself to freeskiing. He was a promising young ski racer in Vail, Colorado, when he first saw the ski movie “The Blizzard of Aahhh's”. In it, the high profile Americans Scot Schmidt and Glen Plake ski Chamonix, the world capital of alpinism. Seth Morrison - like many riders of his generation - was immediately hooked.

He switched ski racing for steep off-piste skiing, and it was seen early on that he had a talent beyond the ordinary. Seth eventually became a full-time professional and was soon as big an icon as his youth idols Scot Schmidt and Glen Plake. It can be said, without a doubt, that Seth Morrison paved the way for today's professional freeskiers.

Seth's professionalism is not only seen on the mountain. He is a dedicated product developer who works together with several leading companies in the ski industry. Hestra began working with Seth in 2005 to develop a pro model for his type of riding. “I wore Hestra gloves even before we started working together. I want to use the best equipment and not just choose something because I get paid to.

My thoughts focus heavily on how things can be improved. Inspiration comes not only from skiing. Other sports, fashion, music - everything can be an inspiration,” says Seth, adding that motorcycle gloves was one of the inspirations for the first pro model we developed together. Since then, the gloves have been modified each season based on the experiences Seth has on his ski trips.

He spends several weeks every winter in Alaska, most recently in the desolate mountain area of Petersburg. “Almost no one had skied there before us. The hands were exposed to cold temperatures, as well as impacts. Such environments require the best gloves you can get.”
