For the upcoming season, Hestra presents an entirely new glove collection: Mountaineering. It was developed together with accomplished Swiss alpinist, Stéphane Schaffter.
The new collection consists of eight gloves including highly functional and warm models like the Army Leather Ascent Glove, as well as gloves for summer tours, like the Via Ferrata Short. Several of the new models also have removable wool liners that are washable and replaceable, allowing you to combine gloves for varying weather conditions and uses.
Hestra developed the new collection in close cooperation with mountain guide and professional climber Stéphane Schaffter, from Switzerland. Schaffter has been climbing new routes on the world’s toughest mountains ever since his ascent of the legendary Bonatti-pillar, when he was only 16 years old.
“When Hestra’s design team and I started developing the new collection, we had three goals. We wanted to improve the feeling and grip of the palm, compared to other climbing gloves. We searched for the balance between highly functional and warm materials. And we wanted the hand to move easily without loosing energy from a glove that is too stiff. After tough testing in the Alps and Himalayas, I am very happy with the high quality of the new models,” says Schaffter.
